First and second year art students residing in UWM's Art & Design Living Learning Community (LLC) partnered with Milwaukee's Department of Country Parks and River Revitalization Foundation to ideate, strategize, build, and install an area for rest and reflection in Ceasar's Park along the Milwaukee River.
The installations can be seen on the Beerline trail from Riverwest to Milwaukee's Lower East Side.

Street art has taken on a new life in the digital age. Once the domain of guerrilla artists working in the cover of night for the delight of unsuspecting local audiences, it is now a global phenomenon in which artists become internet famous fast.
A new annual street art festival — the Black Cat Alley — intends to bring that global community of artists, many of whom remain anonymous, to a Milwaukee alley each fall.

Fans watching TV's "The Walking Dead" are definitely aware of Michonne, a character shrouded in mystery. She joined the show near the end of the second season as a hooded figure who saves another individual from harm by using a sword known as a katana.
Many characteristics contribute to Michonne's persona and a large part of that identity is tied to props created by Mark Grzybowski of Slinger.

The Milwaukee Art Museum Teen Satellite Internship is a semester-long program that fosters both hard and soft skills in Milwaukee-area high school students through multi-disciplinary activities and projects.
This past fall semester, 16 teen interns explored social engagement and collaboration through writing, drawing, photography, and music. This approach helps the teens communicate with each other “in different languages, and encourages the development of empathy and the ability to speak thoughtfully,” according to MAM Teen Programs Coordinator Helene Fischman.

On May 3rd, 2016 UWM hosted its annual Innovator's Expo presenting 25+ student showcase winners, 15+ student organizations, and live interviews. Meet the three Peck School of the Arts students who took home awards.
Meet two Peck School of the Arts students and recent alumni who are turning their ideas into products and services with support from the Student Startup Challenge.
Peck School of the Arts students Becky Yoshikane, Fred Kaems, Calvin T. Rupnow, and Sara Shuler have won $10,000 to further develop their project, "Next Step," a prosthetic leg fairing that extends functionality and individuality for amputees.
After consulting with former U.S. Marine, Sgt. Rodriguez, who lost his leg fighting in Afghanistan, the group sought to create a unique covering for his leg that restores body symmetry and helps to prevent the undesired sympathy and attention from strangers. As stated in an interview with Sgt. Rodriguez, "I want my prosthetic to be unique with the cover. I would like it to add character instead of making people feel sorry; I want them to say that it is cool!"
Under the guidance of Associate Professor Frankie Flood, the group submitted their project and won the 2015 InfyMakers competition! Better yet, the group plans to publish the design and assembly directions for anyone to download (free of charge) and print at home in less than 24 hours using 3D printing technologies.
Just one Peck School example of students and faculty engaging the greater community in their creative research and application.
